Bench Push Up Muscle Group(s) Worked: Chest, Shoulders *. Find a surface that sits a minimum of 18 inches off the floor. You can use a bench, chair, couch, or even a bed. *. Place yourself into the push up position with your palms flat on the surface. Your hips and shoulders should be in line, andyou should be up on your toes. *. Now lower yourself toward the surface by bending your elbows.Keep your back straight the whole time, and stop when yourface is about one inch away from the surface. *. Reverse the motion and come back to the start position.
